#10kWritingChallenge

Are Your Ready to Write?

Words Written By Participants Last Challenge

#10kWritingChallenge COVID-19 Edition!

This sucks. Being stuck inside sucks. But…let’s make ourselves productive during this time of social distancing. I challenge you to not only lock yourself in your house, but to also write 10,000 words in one day.

Normally #10kWritingChallenges take place on a specific day, but since these circumstances are a little different, you can choose any day of your choice! Heck, you could attempt to do it every day until you reach your goal! Just write 10,000 words in one day!

RULES:

  • Write 10,000 words in one day.
  • Any day of your choosing during social distancing
  • Fill out this form if you win!

The #10kWritingChallenge runs by the honor system. I have no way of proving if you followed the rules, so only apply to get a sticker if you won. Costs of stickers and postage comes out of my pocket, so please don’t take advantage of this challenge.

Next Challenge:

STARTS NOW!

#10kWritingChallenge COVID-19 Edition is self-hosted. This means I will not be hosting writing sprints on Twitter or YouTube. But if you need motivation please use #10kWritingChallenge to share your journey or connect with other writers participating in the challenge.

Why Participate?

Because you need to write! So besides the obvious, if you hit 10,000 words, you get a free sticker with the #10kWritingChallenge logo on it labeling you as a winner!

Donations are not required to participate but it is appreciated to help cover the costs of the stickers and shipping! Just $1 helps!

Want a Pin?

Originally winners of the challenge received a free pin. Unfortunately, over time shipping costs got to be too much. If you’re more of a pin person, you can still claim a pin! You just have to pay for shipping.

FAQ’s

Do I have to participate on the specified date?

Yes. I try my best to host these writing challenges as often as possible. Not everyone will be able to participate in every challenge and that’s okay! Just because you can’t officially participate doesn’t mean you can’t write 10,000 words on your own. However, you can only win a pin if you wrote 10,000 words on the day of the challenge.

Is this open internationally?

Yes! Even if you live halfway across the world you can still participate and you can still win a free pin!

Can I participate more than once?

Of course! You can do as many challenges as you’d like! At this time, you can only win one pin, even if you’ve won multiple times. This may change in the future if different pin designs come out.

Is it free to participate?

Yes! It’s free to participate and free to win a pin! If you’d like to help cover the costs of the pins and shipping, you can donate here.

What counts as writing 10,000 words in one day?

“One day” means one day in your time zone. This challenge is based on the honor system, so I depend on you being a good judge as what counts as “one day” for you. In the past, I’ve even counted finishing at 1:30 am as a win! If you had to stay up that late to get to your word count, you’ve earned it!

How do I report how many words I've written?

The day after the #10kWritingChallenge you will receive an email from me with a link to a survey. In that survey, you’ll be able to tell me your word count.

See where it all started!

Heya, can I still join if I write in a different time? The challenge will start at nighttime in our place. Is it best if I can do it in the morning and submit my progress after? 😀 Thanks!

Joining at some point early in the morning! Hoping to revise 10k words tomorrow! Considering I haven’t written or revised a single word this month, this should be interesting! LOL
