F.A.Q.

How old were you when you started writing Essence?

I began starting writing Essence when I was thirteen; it went through ten compete drafts which I completed when I was sixteen. The book was published shortly after my seventeenth birthday.

Did you really self-publish your book?

Yes! Unlike many teens my age I had saved up my money, wanted to buy a car, but spent it on self-publishing my first novel!

How did you self-publish your novel?

Self-publishing is one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. There’s a lot of planning that goes into it. If you check out my YouTube channel I talk about the process in a lot of my videos, but I also enjoy directing everyone to a book by Catherine Ryan Howard, Self-Printed: The Sane Person’s Guide to Self-Publishing.

What company did you use to self-publish your novel?

I work through Createspace to self-publish my novel, which means the paperback is available on Amazon. I also use Smashwords to distribute the ebook version.

Who designed your book cover?

I designed the book cover myself, and yes, that is me on the cover. See the video where I talk about designing it here. Also available are all the photos taken that day but didn’t make the cut for the cover! Cover Photo Shoot

Mandi Lynn is a pen name?

Yes. Mandi is my first name and Lynn is my middle name. Why don’t I use my last name? Because it’s Polish and impossible for people to pronounce.

Can I interview you?

Sure! Email me through my contact page and we’ll see if we can arrange something!

Will you read/review my novel/manuscript?

Sadly, being a published author means my life is a little more hectic than the average teen. This means I’m happy on the days I can sit back and read a book that’s been sitting on my shelf. Because of this I don’t have time to read or review anyone else’s manuscripts. I do, however, wish everyone the best in their writing!
